A previous design-build project completed Blue Cross Blue Shield’s corporate headquarters led to Walsh's selection as its national contracting firm. To accommodate BCBS’s continued growth and expansion, a Vertical Completion Project consisted of a 24-floor structural steel-framed addition to the existing 33-story structure. Included in the addition were 16 new elevators, four escalators, two floors of food service and a new conference center on the 30th floor. The curtain wall enclosure of the expansion matches the existing original curtain wall system. Overall capacity of the building was doubled to almost 8,000 employees.
